years have passed since the last time I saw a horror movie.
When I was in middle school I was an avid user and never missed an opportunity to enjoy the latest Hollywood bogey. Then in time the passion has waned, partly because of the repetitiveness of the plots and now it is already too much I see one every two or three years.
Among my favorites of all time, there was a series of "A Nightmare on Elm Street ", in which towers above all the first course. When his name was Fred Krueger and Freddy. When slaughtered and terrorized their victims with no dick jokes. Before an endless series of sequels made him a funny guy and compounded its origins an series of absurd even by the standards of a horror movie of the late 80's.
I have never been a big fan of remakes and especially the obsessive way in which we are served up these days, perhaps a symptom of a lack of ideas in the film industry mass, therefore people are not counted at all to go and see this. Also because of the fact that an institution such as limestone steps Wes Craven was chosen almost unknown Samuel Bayer, here directing his first film.
Then, because the latest issue of Wizard , I find that the role of Freddy Krueger will be covered Jackie Earle Haley and, alas, I could not resist the curiosity to discover what he would do the monster of Elm Street the man who had already given me that wonderful interpretation of Rorschach .
And so in a half-empty room, I enjoyed this rendition of one of the myths of boyhood. It is clear
that the verb is not a coincidence ...
The first film was in many ways a classic 80s horror films which respected the different blocks, the group of teenagers that nobody believes the things start to go wrong after the first trumpet. He had the advantage of playing on the very suggestion, Robert Englund almost always moved in the shadows, his face rarely appeared in full light. This expedient was partly due to the need to hide the simplicity of the prosthetic effects of the time, but it gave the film an underlying tension in that part still remains.
The new film is faithful to the original plot but not slavishly follow in the story, preferring instead the way of the homage and references, now with a name, now with a joke or a scene. The first
Fred Krueger was a "filthy murderess of children" (to use the words of Marge Thompson) who was burned alive by a mob of angry parents after being released from prison because of a technicality. The new
Fred Krueger is a pedophile, set on fire by a group of angry parents who prefer to take the law itself but to spare their children the trauma of a process (save perhaps to themselves the shame of exposure to media) .
And it is through the character of Fred Krueger, masterfully portrayed by an impressive Haley, the remake than the original.
In the new film because the boys Fred investigating. In order to defeat it must discover his past, knowing the man before the demon. In doing so, showing how he died, leaving us to imagine what might have done to these children, the new Nightmare makes real Fred. The
Fred Krueger Jackie Earle Haley is scary because it is a human monster even before a bogey supernatural, no matter how he became a demon because he had already before his death.
the end, it turns out I was right. Jackie Earle Haley
not only managed to make me curious about a film whose vision would not have otherwise even considered but, thanks to little-known director of Bayer, has also given me a nightmare truly deserves to be remembered.
Let's just hope it does not come out seven more followed ...
